Walking is an easy way to stay physically active, it can be done almost anywhere and it’s free! There are many opportunities every month to go on walks that have a leader and are planned by organizations. Organized walks are a great way to get outdoors and take a walk when you:

Several Rhode Island land trusts and other organizations regularly schedule walks that they lead. You can join a group for one of these walks or become a member of a group that regularly goes out walking.

Organizations and Groups That Regularly Have Free Walks in Rhode Island

Appalachian Mountain Club, Narragansett Chapter has several walks and hikes every month. Locations and times vary - check their website for details. AMC requires their walk leaders have extensive safety training.

RI Hiking Club "Walks and Rambles" - This MeetUp Group has several walks a week - locations and times vary. Join the group on MeetUp to see the walks scheduled. Many of these are quick paced for exercise and tend to engage in rather challenging hikes often through rough terrain.

Land Trust Days - This MeetUp Group posts walks led by land trusts around the state - primarily August & September but some walks are scheduled throughout the year.
